No need to leave the house

Why bother to leave the house and travel when I can do it from my sofa. That was a joke.

I like slow travel by train and the Trans-Siberian Railway is high up on my list of things to do. When I had enough spare time last I was to to late to apply for visas, so I ended up taking the train from Istanbul to Damascus instead. Highly recommend btw.

Google has published site where you can "travel" with the train more than 9000 km from Moscow to Vladivostok in HD-video if you so wish. Very impressive.

Check out Google´s train trip across Russia: http://www.google.ru/intl/ru/landing/transsib/en.html

The Norwegian state broadcaster, NRK, did have done something similar, but on a much smaller scale of course. Check out their trip from Bergen to Oslo (the full 7 hrs are also available for download): http://nrkbeta.no/2009/12/18/bergensbanen-eng/

Muhammad cartoon protest

Two pictures from the protest in Oslo last friday.

The Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet printed a caricature of the Prophet Muhammad earlier this month. On friday some 2500 people protested and called for an excuse from the newspaper and a boycott.
